Bullied to Action: Under Pressure From Hate Group, Illinois School District Pulls Trans Protection Ordinance

For four glorious days, trans students attending East Aurora School District were protected against discrimination from other students, free to identify with the pronoun of their choice, and to use the bathroom (or school locker room facility, etc) that corresponded with their self-identified gender. The policy was a landmark effort to help “ensure the safety, comfort, and healthy development of the transgender or gender nonconforming student while maximizing the student’s social integration and minimizing stigmatization of the student.” Well said, especially for a state in the Midwest.
But that was last Monday.
